Massachusetts now has one of the most attractive tax incentive programs in the country for filmmakers. There are currently 40 films ready to begin production in the New England area. These films would mean over $500,000,000 in Statewide spending.
Currently there is only one major facility being built for film production in the New England area.
Comparison with New York:
New York has 900,000 square feet of stage space available for production Silvercup Studios in NY (18 soundstages) has a three-year waiting list
Currently New England has:
- 30,000 sq. ft of stage space
- 120,000 sq. ft of support space
